目的為證明達到100%再生能源的可能性與其急迫性。
舊有的能源使用，如化石能源、核能發電，不只是高碳排、造成空氣汙染，亦衍生廢棄物處理問題，
全球為達到友善環境與永續發展的條件，無不積極邁向各式再生能源的發展，
但要達到100%再生能源不單純是以再生能源取代石化燃料，其中亦含繁雜的機制與步驟，極需長期引導政策的執行。
